Here at Himstedt Improvements we consider ourselves jacks-of-all-trades. Our expertise in quality improvement projects has been developed over 10 years of being in business. From bathroom remodeling, interior and exterior painting, to everyday repairs, and much, much more, we've likely got all your improvement needs covered. If you have a question about whether we can do something, contact us. If it falls in our expertise, we'll quote the job for you, free of charge. It’s one of our ways of saying thanks for supporting our small business.

How It All Started

Kris Himstedt grew up on a hog farm in Central Illinois, and like most farm kids had to learn to to fix things at a very early age. Not that he minded. He'd rather be outside working with his hands anyways. 

As he grew Kris had various jobs until he married and moved to Indiana where he worked at Eli Lilly making antibiotics. He didn't mind the hard work but didn't like being an employee. As kids came, it was decided that he should stay home with the kids while his wife continued to work. 

Not one to sit around all day, Kris started doing odd jobs for the people in community. Not only did this add a lot of skills to his toolbelt, but word of mouth spread his name and quality of work. Pretty soon, his side occupation turned into a full blown business. They started off calling it "Don't Cuss Call Kris." The business continued to grow over the next 10 years and a rebrand was in order. Through much deliberation, the name became Himstedt Improvements. Still the same quality of work, just with a new face.
